East Coast Sales Manager - Data Center Software Infrastructure

East Coast Sales Manager - Data Center Software Infrastructure position.

Our client is an emerging leader in the next generation data center software infrastructure space urgently looking for an East Coast Sales Manager.


  • Overall accountability for and ownership of Enterprise and Service Provider sales across the region.
  • Able to leveraging existing relationships to build a sales pipeline.
  • Experience in building pipeline leveraging multiple techniques (social / professional networking, on-line prospecting, cold-calling).
  • Negotiating agreements, supporting customer product integration, and sales planning and forecasting.
  • Work with local channel partners responsible for fulfillment.
  • Support general marketing activities in order to generate leads, evaluate sales activity effectiveness, understanding competitive strategies, identifying new market and customer opportunities, and evaluate the success and perception of products.
  • Prepare engagement and sales forecasts by opportunity value and timeframe.
  • Provide regular sales input for planning process.
  • Interface with Product Management to provide customer feedback on product performance and future enhancement requirements.


  • A hunter - results-oriented with a proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals.  Can clearly define past 2-3 years of accomplishments.
  • Direct account management responsibility (vs. an overlay / technical specialist).
  • Has sold to a variety of different titles in the IT organization related to cloud infrastructure, storage, compute and/or networking.
  • Sufficient sized contact list to bootstrap prospecting within the territory.
  • Has managed commercial or geographic territory (vs. named accounts).
  • A high-performance, meeting oriented work ethic - ‘phone-first’.
  • Ability to self-manage and take initiative in a start-up environment.  Works creatively to get things done.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of successful software sales experience in the data center market.
  • Knowledge and experience selling virtual compute, storage and/or networking along with solid software sales fundamentals.
  • Thorough understanding of “cloud” technologies, market trends and ecosystem.
  • Exceptional presentation and sales skills capable of building relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects involving a variety of matrix resources.
